run several flights each day from Paris and Lyon.

Train
Eurostar
and the SNCF have made the journey from London to Pau comfortable if a little long.
Eurostar trains leave from Waterloo and arrive at the Gard
du Nord. A taxi or Metro across Paris is then required to get to Montparnasse station, from where trains to Pau normally leave. The taxi can be
expensive, but the Metro is easy with one direct
journey. The train journey from Paris to Pau takes
around 5 to 6 hours, and arrives just before
mid-night. It's worth booking at least a month
before to get a heavy discount, and is much cheaper
for an unknown reason if you book it to Lourdes (a
station after Pau) and get off the train at Pau.
Early booking brings the return journey price down
to around 150 Euros.
Trains from Spain can be booked here.
Car hire around Pau station with the usual
companies is useful to get to Arudy.

Further local directions are given below. With
forewarning, the Hotel is OK about people arriving
late.
Car
From the UK
Via Calais can seem OK but it's
a long way! and you have to go through Paris, down
the A10, past Bordeaux, then towards Toulouse on
the A62, turning off at junction 3 (Langon) to take
the D932 which becomes the N124 and then the N134
towards Pau. Count about 60 Euros for tolls. A
better route is via
St Malo using the fast boat
crossing. From then on it's good motorway/dual
carriage ways all the way to Langon. You go
via
Rennes,
Nantes, and Bordeaux. Local details below. We do
not have a great kit bag in Arudy, but we are happy
to lend and save people driving theirs all the way
down.

Local
details
See map to the left. From the airport follow signs
to Pau and Sarragossa and join the N134 going
south. Crossing Pau follow signs to Sarragossa
(N134). The N134 goes across Place de Verdun, a
large car park in the town centre. You pass under
an old bridge and down Rue du 14 Juillet which on
directly crossing a set of traffic lights becomes
Avenue Henri IV (N134). If you are driving from the
train station, turn left at the first roundabout
and then, after 500 m, left again at the traffic
lights towards Sarragossa so that you are on the
Avenue Henri IV (N134). Once on the Avenue Henri IV
cross 3 sets of lights. At a round-about take the
turning to Gan. After crossing a small set of
lights, passing a cheese factory, and reaching
another round-about, take the turning under the
railway bridge to Gan. There are 4 sets of lights
to cross 'straightly' in Gan. If you can, pass the
winemakers' cooperative! After another 200 yards,
cross a roundabout, go under a rail bridge and then
you are on an intermittent dual carriage road (N134
to Sarragossa). After 10 to 15 minutes you reach
Belair where there is a magnificent view of the
mountains and the opening to the Ossau valley. Down
a steep slope 100 yards after Belair there is a
very sharp turn to the left posted 'Buzy, Arudy'.
Follow this road under two small bridges into Buzy
(D34). At the T junction, turn left towards Arudy
(D920). Follow the road for approximately 2 miles,
and after having entered Arudy and just past
'Champion' (a supermarket) on your right, turn left
at the round-about to Arudy centre. You will go
past the cinema on your right. Then further on into
Arudy you should reach the Ossau Cricket field (Mme
Ouilhon's!) on the right, opposite the post
office.
Hotels
Hotel
Dhérété, run amiably by Mme Dumont,
offers a small reduction to visiting sides. For
this reason, when booking on +33 (0)5 59 05 61 01
or +33 (0)5 59 05 79 25 (fax), please mention Ossau
Cricket. To get to Hotel
Dhérété, go further on down
the same road (Avenue de Pyrénées),
passing a Gendarmerie on the left, and just after a
garage on the left, you will cross over a bridge.
Turn right at the T junction and then after 2
minutes drive you will see the chateau like Hotel
set back from the road on your left. It is well
sign posted, and has very grand looking gates.
Hotel

bang smack in the middle of Arudy and run smoothly
by M Berneteix, serves a stupendous Bearnaise

refurbished. Please mention Ossau Cricket when

70 06 (fax). Rooms with television and

closed to room bookings on the first full weekend
of June each year. To get to Hotel de France,
follow signs to Arudy centre. At the main square,
the Hotel is on the right of the Town Hall, to the
